Through the month of November, we will hear from each of our OSP contributors as we answer this question, “Why are you thankful for your time of singleness?” The majority of us are still in a season of singleness, while two of our contributors are married. We hope this month will be an encouragement and a celebration of what God is doing or has done in each of our lives through this season! May God be glorified as we thank Him!

I’m thankful for my singleness because of:
1. My love for Jesus.
I love Jesus. Each and every year, this love grows stronger. I cannot predict whether my love for Jesus would be less or more if I were married, but all I know is my love for Him is growing. Many times, in the moments where I am fussing abut being single, the Lord reminds me of this very thing. He reminds me of all the times that I have had to rely on Him because He is all I have. He reminds me of all the decisions I have had to make, solely relying on Him to lead me. He reminds me of all the times I have had to press into His Word and His presence when I am feeling alone. He reminds me of how much He has grown my trust in Him. My love for Jesus is stronger because of these times. If anything, He has taught me how much He loves me. And in return, I love Him. I am so very thankful.
2. My time for Jesus.
I have been given so much time to serve Him. God has blessed me with the amazing privilege of serving Him in ministry full time. I am thankful for the times that I get up early in the morning and mentor girls over breakfast. I am thankful for the many many many many times I stay out late to counsel. I am thankful for the flexibility in my schedule to do whatever or whoever God may bring my way. I remind myself often, that if I were not single, these things would not be as easy. God has blessed me with this time, and I am so very thankful.
3. My affections for my family.
My family is so very important to me. I am thankful for my singleness because I have been able to put a lot of my love and affections towards those closest to me. God has given me 3 beautiful nieces and a handsome nephew. I love being able to love and pray for them. I also have been able to have the love and time to give to my parents when my momma’s health hasn’t been so great. God has blessed me with the ability to give more of my heart, love, affections, thoughts, prayers, and time to those I love in this season of my life. I am so very thankful.
Being thankful in this season of singleness makes me realize this one thing: God is in control. He knows. He loves. He’s got such a great and mighty plan.
